positives

Super sticky rubber makes gripping the rock a breeze. The high ankle is great when shoving your foot into cracks. The high ankle is also PADDED giving some extra protection. Having used low ankle climbing shoes in the past let me tell you this is a great added piece of protection. The top of the toe box is padded. Let me repeat that, THE TOP OF THE TOE BOX IS PADDED! I can't tell you how nice this feels when crack climbing. It's a really nice to not have to cringe in pain when shoving your foot into foot jams.

The toe box fits my foot perfectly. I have have wide feet.  I now have a shoe I can wear, and have worn, on multi-pitch routes routes comfortably. The heel box in the original version of Evolv's crack shoe was very tight and pushed my foot forward into the toe box. The General has fixed this issue.

The textured rubber on top of the toe box adds to the grippy nature of the shoe.

negatives

Recently in Joshua Tree I put the shoe up on slab routes and it wasn't the best nor the worst. It slipped on some features.

The Shoes cost is a deterrent for a lot of people. At $170 per pair they are out of reach for some folks. Having said that spend the money. You'll be thankful.

Customer Service

The customer service at the Evolv shop is great. If you get a chance talk to Harrison. He takes care of the front end. He is a great guy who will put you in the right pair of shoes. He's not making commission so he doesn't push you in any direction. The shop has a small bouldering wall so you can take the shoes on a "test drive" before you make the final purchase.

Overall

I've worn many crack shoes from the TC Pro to Evolvs' original version of the General. These are the most comfortable shoes I've worn thus far. They work well on multiple types of rock. They were very comfortable it cracks as well. I would recommend these shoes to anyone! Check out Evolv and see if they have what you're looking for or click HERE to purchase them.
