positives

Out of the box the watch was very easy to navigate. It took about an hour to connect to the Suunto Movescout system as well as connect the watch to my iPhone. After it was connected I calibrated the watch and set the altimeter. This process was painless. I had taken the watch out on a few runs around my house and set it to running mode. The watch was really accurate. 4 days later I was called out for a Search for a missing hiker in Southern California.

A winter storm had come in and visibility at 9,500 feet was about 20 feet. We summited at 345am at 10,069 feet and the visibility had declined. The snow turned to freezing rain. The watch was soaked and cold. Still worked great. I turned on the "wayback" feature and followed the arrow displayed. This took us back directly on the path we came in on. I had no issues operating the watch despite wearing gloves.

The battery, with moderate use, has lasted up to 8 days without needing a charge.

negatives

At a cost of $670 for the version shown above this watch is EXPENSIVE. The not so visually fancy version at $400 is a reasonable price for what you are getting (Both prices found with a simple google search). The band on the watch has a tendency to come off giving you a rubber dinglehopper hanging off the band. It can be annoying at times.

The charging cable that comes with the watch is custom for Suunto. This becomes problematic if you happen to leave it at home.

Customer Service

On a side note I'd like to give a shout out to the staff at The Gear Coop in Santa Ana CA. Every time I come in its an episode of cheers. Everyone says hello and no matter how well they know you they always ask "How can I help you?"

I will continue to shop here for years to come.

Overall

Ive only had this watch for about a month now and so far so great! I enjoy the functionality of the watch. It performs well and the interface is very easy to understand. I would recommend this watch. I didn't beat the hell out of it as I bought the watch for personal use. You can check them out at Suunto or purchase one HERE.
